China Star Silver mirrors are produced using a fully automated production line through a chemical silvering method, resulting in a high-grade, durable mirror. The process begins with high-quality float glass panels that are cleaned with pure water and polished. The glass is sensitized by spraying a solution of stannous chloride. It is then activated by sequentially spraying palladium chloride and silver nitrate solutions onto the glass surface. Fresh silver ammonia solution and a reducing agent are applied to the glass substrate, followed by a 2-3 minute oxidation-reduction reaction, which forms a silver layer reflective film on the glass surface. A solution of copper sulfate and a reducing agent are uniformly sprayed onto the silver layer to produce a dense and uniform copper layer that serves to protect the silver layer.
On the production line, the copper layer is further cleaned with ionized water and dried. A lead-containing primer is evenly applied to the copper surface through a coating machine, and a topcoat is evenly applied over the primer through a second coating machine. The glass is then conveyed along the production line until the topcoat is fully dried, completing the production of a high-quality silver mirror glass.
Using different float glasses as substrates, we can also produce high-quality silver mirrors of various types, such as ultra-high silver mirrors and colored silver mirrors made from a variety of colored glasses.
